dragon and unicorn, once upon a time,…

A while ago we were in a local Dutch Boekenvoordeel store, and saw cute crochet kits of a dragon and a unicorn.

Both kids found them totally awesome and asked if I would crochet these amigurumi for them.

Sure! 🙂

When I came home, I saw that the yarn in the kits was more wooly than the packet suggests. That was a bit unfortunate. I used a different yarn than the one provided (I used Phildar 3) to get the same smooth look as the picture on the kit.

Here’s the dragon:

Waah! a dragon!

He has wings and a pretty red ridge on his back.

And here’s the unicorn:

The blue sparkly manes and the light blue horn are made with ByClaire yarn. Perhaps it would be better next time to use a smaller hook/thinner yarn on the manes, they are a bit too bulky for my taste.

Both kids are super happy with the amigurumi, so mommy is too!:)

The Wollowbies series are not only available in kits, but also as books. There is an animal version (from which I made this chick) and just recently they launched a fairytale version with these dragon and unicorn in it.  These books are available in Dutch and German and available in various bookstores and yarnshops.

In the meantime I am working on several new projects, when they are finished I will show them here on my blog. If you want to keep track on my progress, you can follow my Instagram account where I regularly show pictures of my ongoing struggles 😉

I wish you well, have a nice day!

cinderella

The new Cinderella mice are online!

As I mentioned in my previous post I was working on new digital files for my Etsy shop, and I am proud to say that lots of new files have been added!

All new files are Cinderella themed, I really like the little mice 🙂

Running around, trying to help “cinderelly” with the key, and Cinderella’s dress, they are so adorable.

These files are a nice addition to the ones I already had in my shop.

Here’s a sample of the files added:

Every one of these listings on Etsy has an extra picture with a suggestion how to use such an image.

Sorry for the watermarks through the images, unfortunately it is necessary. In the real files no watermark is present of course.

All these digital files are suitable for cutting machines such as the Silhouette Cameo and the Cricut, but there are also PDF and PNG files added, so you also have the option to print the file to make a nice (mini)poster of postcard.

Feel free to take a look!

Chicken and chick, crocheted spring decoration

The weather is so nice at the moment!

Spring is in bloom, the little lambs are jumping around in the meadow, it’s awesome!

(you can probably tell, I love spring)

To get the springtime inside my house too, I wanted to crochet a chicken and a chick.

chicken and chick, chick and chicken.

The chicken is a free pattern by Stip&Haak (it’s in Dutch, but there are chrochet translations available in the internet. Search for the pattern on the site in “gratis patronen”). There is also a bigger (paid) chicken available on this site, that one is also adorable!

The chicken is about 10 cm high, I used a nr 2,5 crochet hook. The yarn is by Yarn&Colors en Phildar3.

The chick is from a book called Wollowbies, which is available at multiple locations. It’s a great amigurumi book full of cute animals like this chick, a giraffe, a cow, a pinguin, …

chicken and chick
hello!

I crocheted the chick before I crocheted the chicken, and I used a bigger hook. You can tell by the bigger stitchsize on the chick.

These two are feeling very cozy with the easter bunnies on the table, guarding the chocolate eggs (they are not very good guards, mjom mjom mjom).

A coffeetable of spring fun!

easter bunnies

two easter bunnies, crochet a cute couple

Easter is coming, just a few weeks to go!

easter bunnies

The chocolate easter eggs are already on the table (nomnomnom), and while eating them I felt like crocheting some easter bunnies!

The pattern is from Wolplein.nl , they have lots of materials to knit and crochet, and there are also free patterns available like these easter bunnies

I used a yarn with a color gradient, which makes every bunny different. I found the colors very Spring-y 🙂

Each bunny consists of a front- and backside which you crochet separately, and then connect with single crochets, en fill.

To match the colors of each bunny as much as possible, I crocheted 1 side of the small bunny after I crocheted 1 side of the big bunny, so that the greenish color would be on again for crocheting the second half of the big bunny. All colors you see came from 1 ball of yarn, but because I crocheted the big and small bunnies alternately, the big bunny has a predominantly green-yellow-pink color, and the small binny a pink-purple-blue appearance.

The pattern also mentions a cross-stitched mouth, but I didn’t feel like doing that.

The bunnies have a cute pompom on the back, made with the same yarn.

My daughter said “aawww, cute!”

The easter bunnies are placed now by the empty jar or chocolate eggs  🙂

All ready for Easter!

bram the bear

Bear Bram has a new home

This is Bram the Bear.

Bram is a bit shy..

I crocheted him with a pattern from Stip&Haak, and I think he looks great!

Do you see something there Bram?

I used Yarn&Colors yarn in the colors white and opaline glass. I used some left-over black for the nose , and the eyes are from a local Boekenvoordeel shop.

Meanwhile Bram the Bear has moved to his new owner; baby Niels can cuddle with Bram all day now.

(Beware: this type of eyes can be hazardous to small children)

I’m going to miss you Bram!
